Display our headlines on your website
LDS SN News headlines are available for display on your website as an RSS newsfeed and a JavaScript.
If you are able to display RSS feeds on your site, please use that method.
Otherwise, please use the JavaScript feed, which will work with any website.
RSS Newsfeed:
If using the RSS version, you must:
• link to our site, for example, by displaying the channel title and link.
• use a caching RSS parser set to refresh no more than once per hour (for a free caching RSS parser, see below).
The address of the newsfeed is:
For those needing a caching RSS parser to display the newsfeed, we recommend the following:
- CaRP:
If your webserver supports PHP, CaRP is an excellent choice.
It offers full customizability to ensure that the newsfeed matches the look of your site.
It is available in both free and commercial versions.
You may hire the author to install it for $25 - $30.
- Jawfish:
If your webserver doesn't support PHP, Jawfish will convert the newsfeed to a JavaScript which can be displayed on any webpage.
Even if your server does support PHP, you may prefer Jawfish's web-based configuration interface.
The service costs $29.99 per year for up to 10 newsfeeds.
Free trial accounts are available to test it out.
JavaScript Newsfeed:
To display the JavaScript version, copy the following and paste it into your web page:
• To change the number of stories to display, change the "mi=7" to "mi=[the desired number of stories]".
•To only show the headlines and not the summaries, change "ss=1" to "ss=0".
•To limit the length of the summaries, change "sl=0" to "sl=1" (up to 120 characters) or "sl=2" (up to 200 characters).
•To set the font, size, color, etc., use HTML in your web page just as you would for any other text on your page.
If you require more customizability, you will need to find a solution using the RSS version of the newsfeed.
